Return of the Nudge

So here it is, almost March already. Where DID that time go? It seems unlikely now that I will win Blogger of the year. Is there a blogger of the year? I was once Googler of the Week but there wasn't half the prestige attached to that. Except of course for the big "Googler of the Week" sign i got to fly over my desk. I'm still not sure if I've had a prouder moment.

So given that it is now almost March (which I may have mentioned), that means that time draws ever closer for my first big solo exhibition. And there you see my lack of updates is explained away in one fell swoop. Its the painting you see. And the drawing. And photering (it sounds better methinks). I have been one busy little bee ever since Simon in the Wild Cherry gave me the news. Collecting the pollen. Turning into Honey. I'm not sure if that's a metaphor but i'm gonna leave it right there.

Sooooo anywho. The big show is on Monday week. That being Monday, March 3rd, 2008 in the aforementioned Wild Cherry In Bethnal Green. Funny thing about Bethnal Green. Wait, no there isn't. The Kray twins once got discharged from the army near Bethnal Green but I guess that's not really that funny.

Back to me. I chopped and changed what i wanted to show and what I wanted to work on so many times, that it's only this weekend that I can finally slow down and enjoy the ride. (Please keep your filthy minds clean if you don't mind). I got my Florence paintings back from the framers today and am really really happy. Him indoors told me I was crazy spending big bucks on frames. But then anyone that knows James knows he is cheap as chips. Speaking of which, he is responsible for buying the wine so expect only the best from the bargain bin at Threshers.

So here is a quick snap of the imposing columns that will grace the entrance to the exhibition. Naturally when I asked 'him' to take some photos, given that he is a self-proclaimed master, he must have assumed that i also wanted a self-portrait included. You don't have to look too closely to notice his carcass 'artfully' reflected in the leftmost of the two.

I'm off now for a well-earned break, off to the lovely Adriana's down 'ackney way as they say in these parts, to dance the light fantastic. If not dance, then I will drink wine in a fantastic manner to make up for it.

Later peeps,

Nudge

Good News (and not the bible either)

Hi all,

Great News. The Collapse of the Berlin Wall, Nelson Mandela gets released, and now... I have a Solo Exhibition!!!!

I just heard the news yesterday and it took me until this morning to calm my typing fingers down. They were re-enacting Riverdance ever since. So where and when goes the call. Well, it will be in March and takes place in the Wild Cherry Gallery in Bethnal Green. So my connection to the East End of London continues. Can you Adam n Eve it, as my cockney brethren would say. (Although I never actually heard anyone say it, ever).

Well, I input all this data into my calculator and realised there is less than six weeks to go. Eeeeek. I better get my skates on. Cos I always paint in my skates as you know. I have some pieces ready, am working on some other stuff and have ideas on a couple more. There won't be much room for socialising then until mid-March when I might just have a party to celebrate and tie it in with the house warming we have been promising since we moved in.

And finally for now, I am showing for the first time for all to see, the space in which I work. Its not quite Francis Bacon's yet but I'm getting there.

Till next time,

xx

...and here it is ...

In the beginning was the word. And the word was Aardvark.

So this is my first post on my first ever Blog. You would think that with that in my mind I would have something interesting and witty to add. So I went to the ZOO last week. All they had was a DOG. It was a Shi-tzu. Ha ha. I love that joke.

I have finally settled in wonderful Willesden, which for those that don't know is in North West London. Myself and James returned from a quiet Christmas in Dublin recently and I have managed to get the studio (bedroom 2) up and running. I am working on two or three pieces at the moment and hopefully will get them completed in time to enter some competitions which are coming up at the end of this month and then early in February. As soon as they are finished, I will get them up on the site so as per everything else, feel free to let me know what you think (See Addendum).

Oh and in case I forget to mention it, thanks James for the site. You are a genius. (See Other Addendum).

Well that's it for now. I will be back soon or if not then, a little bit after that.
